Absract. The purpose of this article is to present the views of the representatives of the New Education Movement for the child and their upbringing and education. The main theoretical achievements of the new pedagogy are clarified: the value of the
child and their perception as an active being in relation to the environment in which
they live, grow and are brought up. The new education is based on the principles
of active pedagogy with its main characteristics: pedocentrism, the leading role of psychology, the relationship interest-needs, the relationship teaching-life. Unlike the traditional, the new school is open and connected with real life, and the knowledge
the child receives is based on their experience and connection with reality. The new education is opposed to the traditional one in terms of goals, methods, the concept
of the child, the program and the educational content, the role of the teacher in the
educational process, the discipline, the pedagogical approach.
