Absract. The everyday life of the modern society requires frequent use of English language. Learning it from an early age is widely spread in the educational system of the Republic of Bulgaria. The multilinguism suggests that students acquire at least two foreign languages. This fact makes the author ask the question about the motivation among students and parents when choosing German as a foreign language from an early age. The data collected from the survey encourage school administration and foreign language teachers on one hand, students and parents on the other as well as student’s books’ writers to reconsider the choice of the first and second foreign language.
