Absract. The article presents the problem of the bilateral relationship between the teaching and learning in the educational process. The article analyzes the results of an empirical study conducted with high-school students studying in the South Central region of Bulgaria. The results show that 53% of teachers use active teaching methods as a priority, while 47% implement their teaching activities through passive methods. Students are differentiated into four groups according to their learning style – research, practical, analytical or creative one. In order for the
learning process to be effective, it is necessary for teachers to use a set of teaching methods that are most in line with the dominant learning styles of the students.
